How we work

Guides on Worked Guide are written and verified by the Worked Guide editorial process. Here is what every guide goes through before it's published.

Built from primary sources

Each guide starts from manufacturer manuals, official documentation and platform help pages, backed up by encyclopedias and reference books. Every factual statement in a guide points to the reference it came from, so you can check it yourself. Where the sources disagree, the guide says so.

Checked automatically

  • Every reference link is fetched. It has to load, and the page has to contain the passage we cite. Book ISBNs are confirmed against Open Library, and paper DOIs are resolved through doi.org. A reference that fails is removed, along with the claim it supported.
  • Platform rules (payout thresholds, revenue shares, eligibility) are cited from the platform's own help pages, and each guide shows the date those pages were checked.
  • A style check rejects filler, hype and padding.

Videos picked by viewers

Each guide can include one YouTube video. We don't pick videos by view count alone. We read what viewers say in the comments, and a video only makes the cut when a clear majority of the people reporting a result said it worked. If no video meets that bar, the guide has none.

Reviewed by an editor

An editor reviews guides before they go live. When a guide is rejected, the reason goes into our style rules so the same problem isn't repeated.

What we don't do

  • We don't claim to have done a repair ourselves. Guides say what the manual specifies or what owners report.
  • We don't promise income. Guides about earning online explain how the systems work, not what you'll make.
  • We don't publish guides for work that isn't safe to learn from a web page, such as mains electrical work, car brake hydraulics or anything medical.

Found a mistake?

Guides are updated when their sources change. If something is wrong or out of date, the references at the bottom of each guide are the fastest way to check it, and we fix errors as soon as we confirm them.
